Portuguese monarchists and their functioning after the Carnation Revolution

Abstract:

Od roku 1910, kdy byla v Portugalsku svržena monarchie a nastolena republika, se země nesla ve znamení nestability a střetů různých protichůdných táborů. Po ukotvení nového režimu se Republikánské straně nepodařilo sestavit stabilní vládu, která by se dokázala vypořádat se všemi tamními krizemi. Monarchisté neustále bojovali za návrat padlé monarchie. V roce 1926 proběhlo pravicové povstání a posléze se k moci dostal Antónia de Olivier Salazar. Při pokusech stabilizovat zemi, Salazar zavedl nový nedemokratický režim Estado Novo. Monarchisté se vyskytli v opozici režimu Estado Novo a pokračovali ve svých snahách navrátit do Portugalska krále. Po 2. světové válce se v portugalské společnosti objevovaly ohlasy po změně režimu, po demokratizaci. V roce 1974 proběhl levicový převrat zvaný Karafiátová revoluce, který svrhl již lidem nechtěný režim. Tento převrat byl nenásilný, vyznačoval se tím, že lidé chodili po ulicích a vkládali do hlavní pušek červené karafiáty. Tento převrat iniciovala především armáda. Vojenští důstojníci pak nadále do 80. let 20. století zasahovali do politického dění. Opětovné nastolení demokratického zřízení se označuje jako období třetí portugalské republiky. Od roku 1974 působí v portugalském stranickém systému Lidová monarchistická strana, která má své předchůdce již v dobách implementace první republiky. Tato bakalářská práce zkoumá monarchistické působení napříč stoletími. Také odpovídá na otázku, zda je strana Partido Popular Monárquico (Lidová monarchistická strana) úspěšná či nikoliv. To je představováno na volebních výsledcích již od roku 1975 až po rok 2015, kdy proběhli poslední tamní volby. Jsou představeny mezinárodní organizace, se kterými strana spolupracuje. Taktéž se práce věnuje stabilizaci portugalského stranického systému a ukazuje, jakou roli přitom hrála PPM. V poslední kapitole je působnost a úspěšnost Lidové monarchistické strany dokreslena dotazníkovým šetřením, které se věnuje aktivitám Partido Popular Monárquico a tématu monarchie v určité části portugalské společnosti.

Abstract:

Since the year 1910 when monarchism had been dropped in Portugal and republic regime was raised, whole country was affected by conflicts and unstable decisions by antipode political groups. After embedding new regime Republic Party was not able to assemble stable government which could had settled with all local problems. Monarchists had been constantly fighting for a rise of decayed monarchists regime. In the year 1926 became rightward rise and Antónia de Olivier Salazar became a leader. During his attempts to stable whole country Salazar implemented new non-democratic regime Estado Novo. Monarchists took the place in the opposition againts this new regime and continued in their efforts to return king to the Portugal. After World War II the Portuguese society started emerging the change of regime after democracy. In the year 1974 there was leftwarded takeover called Carnation revolution which was caused by unwanted regime by society. This takeover was nonviolent and was demarcated by people walking on streets and loading red carnations to guns. This takeover was mainly iniciated by army. Generals were still involved in political decisions untill 80s of 20th century. Repeated establishment of democratic constitution is mentioned as a third period of Portugal republic. Since 1974 militates Partido Popular Monárquico in political system which have ancestors in past implementation of first republic. This bachelory thesis is investigating monarchists operations through centuries. Also is answering question if the Partido Popular Monárquico is successful or not. This question is presented by election results since 1975 till 2015 when the last elections were. International organizations are featured in this thesis whose are collaborating with Partido Popular Monárquico. Either the thesis is investigating the stabilization of Portuguese factious system and shows the role which Partido Popular Monárguico stands for. In the last chapter there is scope and success of Partido Popular Monárquico visualized by survey which is focused on activities by PPM and the monarchist theme in a part of Portuguese society.
