Bakalářská práce se zabývá křehkostí lidské existence v díle Svět podle Garpa amerického spisovatele Johna Irvinga. V úvodu autorka seznámí čtenáře s dílem Johna Irvinga a jeho životem. Dále se bude zabývat problematikou celého románu s důrazem na zobrazení lidské psychiky románového protagonisty i některých dalších postav.
