Evaluation of legal-institutional regulation of the online gaming industry in the Czech Republic in the years 2017 to 2020 and comparison with current trends in the world

Anotace:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá zhodnocením právně-institucionální regulace online herního průmyslu v ČR v letech 2017 až 2020 a srovnáním s aktuálními trendy ve světě. Hypotézou je, že část tohoto odvětví nepodléhá regulaci a zdanění. V teoretické části jsou vymezeny pojmy spojené s videohrami. Dále teoretická část popisuje teorii šedé ekonomiky, asymetrické informace a teorie státní regulace. Tato část je zakončená detailním popisem fungování platfomy Steam. V praktické části je čtenář seznámen s významem mikrotransakcí. Jsou zde srovnány ratingové společnosti PEGI a ESRB. Právně-institucionální regulace je zde rozdělená na část obsahovou a část monetizační. Tyto dvě části regulace sledujeme nejdříve na našem území, poté je srovnáváme s trendy v zahraničí. Součástí práce je dotazníkové šetření, které je zaměřené na analýzu využívání Steamu a internetových stránek, které využívají Steam API. Na základě výsledků dotazníku je provedena hloubková analýza stránek, které používají Steam API. Tato hypotéza byla potvrzena.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with the evaluation of the legal-institutional regulation of the online gaming industry in the Czech Republic in the years 2017 to 2020 and a comparison with current trends in the world. The hypothesis is that part of this industry is not subject to regulation and taxation. The theoretical part defines the concepts associated with video games. Furthermore, the theoretical part describes the theory of the gray economy, asymmetric information and the theory of regulation. This section concludes with a detailed description of the operation of the Steam platform. In the practical part, the reader is acquainted with the importance of microtransactions. The rating companies PEGI and ESRB are compared. Legal-institutional regulation is divided into a content part and a monetization part. We monitor these two parts of the regulation first in our territory and then compare it with trends abroad. Part of the work is a questionnaire survey, which is focused on the analysis of the use of Steam and websites that use the Steam API. Based on the results of the questionnaire, an in-depth analysis of sites that use the Steam API is performed. This hypothesis was confirmed.
