Quality of life of seniors with lung cancer

Abstract:

Věk má význam při výběru léčby a při závažných chronických onemocněních. Cílem výzkumu je zjistit kvalitu života seniorů s karcinomem plic. Dále pak zjistit vliv nežádoucích účinků léčby, délky onemocnění a vybraných sociodemografických charakteristik na kvalitu života pacientů. Pro sběr dat bude použit standardizovaný dotazník EORTC QLQ-30 a EORTC QLQ-LC-13. Počet respondentů výzkumu byl 244, nejvíce zúčastněných respondentů bylo z mužské populace 158, žen bylo 86. Chemoterapií se léčilo 112 mužů a 63 žen, biologickou léčbu podstoupilo 46 mužů a 23 žen. Všichni respondenti byli rozděleni do tří věkových skupin v rozsahu dožitých let, první skupina 65 let ? 70 let, druhá skupina 71 let ? 76 let, třetí skupina 77 let ? 90 let. Ženy lépe hodnotí funkční škálu než muži. V hodnocení celkového stavu mají muži vyrovnanější hodnocení než ženy. Nejlépe se cítili pacienti po léčbě, a nejhůře při měření s odstupem 6 měsíců. Hodnocení škály symptomatické a nežádoucích účinků celkově nejhůře dopadli muži CHEMO a ženy BIO. Nejhorší zátěž měly naměřeny symptomy únavy, dušnosti, bolesti a kašle. Obecně lze říct, že mladší ročníky žen více zatěžovaly projevy onemocnění, a starší spíše účinky léčby na funkční škálu, i když nejlépe hodnotili kvalitu života. U mužů mladší lépe hodnotili kvalitu života a projevy onemocnění a starší při lepší funkční škále vnímali horší projevy onemocnění.

Abstract:

Age is important for the selection of treatment and at severe chronic disease. The aim of this research is to find out what is the quality of life of seniors with a lung cancer. Also to find out an impact of adverse effects of the treatment, duration of illness and of the selected socio-demographical characteristics on the quality of life of the patients. There will be used a standardised questionnaire EORTC QLQ-30 and EORTC QLQ-LC-13 for data collection. The number of the research respondents was 244, the highest number of participating respondents was from the male population 158 and there were 86 women. Chemotherapy underwent 112 men and 63 women, biological treatment underwent 46 men and 23 women. All the respondents were divided into three age groups within the expectancy years; the first group was age from 65 to 70 years, the second group from 71 to 76 years, the third group from 77 to 90 years. The women evaluate the functional range better than men. In assessment of the overall condition, the men have more balanced assessment than women. The patients felt at their best after the treatment and the worst after 6 months interval. In the assessment of symptomatic and adverse effects range, the worst was for the men CHEMO and women BIO. The worst ballast was measured for symptoms of fatigue, emphysema, pains and cough. Generally it can be said that younger women were more burdened by the symptoms of the illness, and older women by the treatment effects on a functional range, even though they evaluated the best the quality of life. Younger men better rated the quality of life and symptoms of the illness and older at better functional range, viewed the worse the symptoms of the illness.
