Readout Interface for Control and Data acquisition of Pixel Detectors

Abstract:

Tato dizertační práce se zabývá vývojem elektronického systému pro polohově citlivé detektory z rodiny Medipix, které byly vyvinuty v CERN. V práci je detailně popsán návrh datového rozhraní pro řízení experimentů a čtení dat z pixelových detektorů Medipix2MXR, Timepix a Medipix3, které bylo realizováno a vešlo do povědomí vědecké komunity jako zařízení FITPix. Dále je uveden seznam realizací a speciálních aplikací tohoto zařízení, které byly vyvinuty. V práci jsou též popsány dva experimenty, na kterých jsem pracoval, a kde byly použity zařízení FITPix.

Abstract:

This Ph.D. thesis devotes to the development of readout electronics for pixel detectors of the Medipix family. The Medipix detectors were developed in frame of the Medipix collaboration at CERN. The data acquisition and control readout interface for pixel particle detector and experiment control is described in a detail. The device called FITPix can operate all the main detectors of the Medipix family such as the Medipix2MXR, Timepix and Medipix3 devices. This thesis contains also the list of special modifications of the FITPix which were developed during my study. Two types of experiments are described which were performed using the FITPix readout interface and which I took part assembling the system and performing the measurement.
