Calculus of selfishness and cooperation

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá situacemi modelovanými pomocí teorie her a jejich analýzou. Nejprve je popsán život a dílo důležitého představitele pro evoluční stabilitu Johna Maynarda Smithe. První polovina práce obsahuje definice z oblasti diferenciálních rovnic a teorie her. Jsou zde nastíněny podmínky stability autonomních systémů. U základních pojmů z teorie her jsou definovány podmínky rovnováhy. V této části je nastíněna i souvislost mezi replikátorovou rovnicí a bimaticovou hrou. Předtím než jsou rozebrány samotné modely, je ještě vysvětlen mechanismus pro vývoj kooperace — reciprocita. Ve druhé polovině práce jsou analyzovány tři modely — Jestřáb-Hrdlička (Hawk-Dove), Souboj pohlaví (Battle of sexes), Dárcovská hra (Donation game). U poslední dárcovské hry je ukázána změna výsledku při aplikaci jednotlivých typů reciprocit.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with situations modelled by the game theory and their analysis. Firstly, a life and work of John Maynard Smith, an important representative of evolutionary stability, are described. First part of thesis presents definitions in area of differential equations and game theory and outlines stability conditions of autonomous systems. Equilibrium conditions are defined for the basic concepts of the game theory. In this part of the work, a connection between replicator equation and bimatrix game is discussed. Before the models are analysed, the mechanism of evolution of cooperation — reciprocity is explained. In the second part of the work, three models Hawk-Dove, Battle of sexes and Donation game are analysed. Moreover, a change of result while applying different types of reciprocities is shown in Donation game model.
