Abstract:

Otázka rovnosti žen a mužů je problémem, který ovlivňuje klíčové aspekty, jako je ekonomika, společnost a politika. Předpojaté pohledy na gender mohou omezovat jednotlivce v dosahování jejich potenciálu. Jedním z faktorů těchto problémů je předpojaté vnímání genderových rolí a očekávání. V Etiopii, kde mladí lidé tvoří velkou část populace, mají genderové stereotypy obrovský vliv i na ně. Studie naznačují, že realizace programů sexuální výchovy by mohla pomoci tyto problémy řešit. Cílem tohoto výzkumu je analyzovat, jak mladí lidé v Addis Abebě v Etiopii vnímají genderové stereotypy se zaměřením na vliv programu sexuální výchovy. Na základě přehledu literatury o genderových stereotypech byl školní mládeži, na kterou byl zaměřen program sexuální výchovy realizovaný Development Expertise Center (DEC), distribuován dotazník, přičemž vzorky byly náhodně vybrány ze skupin, které se programu účastnily, a ze skupin, které se programu neúčastnily. Analýza odpovědí ukázala, že většina vzorků se stereotypní otázkou souhlasila. Výsledky naznačují, že ať už mladí lidé absolvují sexuální výchovu, nebo ne, většina z nich odráží tendenci k nerovnému vnímání pohlaví. Pro získání dalších výsledků je třeba provést další výzkum, včetně kvalitativního, který by takový výsledek důkladně prozkoumal v korespondenci s hodnocením účinnosti sexuálních programů.

Abstract:

The issue of gender equality is a pressing concern that influences critical aspects of life, including the economy, society, and politics. Biased views toward gender have the potential to hinder individuals from realizing their full potential. One contributing factor to these challenges stems from the biased perceptions people have regarding gender roles and expectations. In Ethiopia, where the youth make up a great portion of the population, gender stereotypes also affects them tremendously. Studies suggest that implementing sexual education programs could help tackle these challenges. This research aims to analyze how young people in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, perceive gender stereotypes with a focus, on the influence of sexual education program. Based on the literature review on gender stereotype, a survey questionnaire was distributed to in school youth that are targeted under the sexual education program by Development Expertise Center (DEC). The samples were randomly selected from groups that participated in the program and those with no exposure. Analysis of the responses demonstrated that majority of samples agreed to the stereotypical question. The results indicate that whether or not the young people receive sexual education, most reflected the tendency of gender unequal perception. Further study, including qualitative research, needs to be conducted to profoundly investigate such outcome in correspondence with assessing effectiveness of the sexual programs for additional results.
