Web Search Engine as an Information Source for Language Teachers

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá internetovými vyhledávači v kontextu učitelské práce a přípravy. První část práce je věnována teorii vyhledávání a sociologického výzkumu. Druhá část shrnuje průzkum, který byl proveden mezi učiteli cizích jazyků. Pomocí dotazníků autorka zjišťovala, jaké jsou schopnosti a dovednosti učitelů, co se týče vyhledávání na internetu. Na základě analýzy dat, autorka zpracovala příručku, jež má sloužit učitelům k efektivnějšímu využívání nejběžnějšího vyhledávače Googlu.

Abstract:

The thesis analyzes one of the most crucial phenomena and tools on the Internet in the context of the educational work, web search engines. In general, the thesis is divided into three parts. First, the theoretical part defines concepts related to both sociology of research and education. Second, the practical part summarizes the survey, which is a combination of quantitative and qualitative research. Finally, the outcomes of the survey are analyzed and the data are used for creating a handbook to web search engines for teachers. Thus the primary aim of the thesis is gathering empirical data of the web search engine usage among teachers and their further practical application.
