Gender differences at work

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce se zabývá problematikou genderových aspektů a rozdílů v pracovní oblasti, které mohou mít vliv na dosahování pracovního úspěchu. Teoretická část je zaměřena na představení předchozích výzkumů a poznatků vztahujících se k pojmům genderové rozdíly, maskulinita a feminita, agresivita, úspěch, self-efficacy a self esteem, s důrazem na jejich projevy a funkce v pracovní sféře. V praktické části jsou předloženy výsledky vlastního kvantitativního výzkumu, který byl realizován na vzorku N=204 respondentů. Tyto výsledky jsou prezentovány a diskutovány v rámci poznatků z předchozích výzkumů ze zahraničního i domácího prostředí. Jedním z nejvýznamnějších zjištěním této práce je to, že mezi muži a ženami nebyly prokázány výrazné rozdíly v rámci zkoumaných aspektů, a tedy nelze tvrdit, že by na základě psychologických předpokladů byli muži predisponováni k větším pracovním úspěchům než ženy.

Abstract:

The presented theses deals with gender aspects and differences at the work area, which may have an impact on career success achievement. The theoretical part is focused on the performance of previous research and findings related to the concepts of gender differences, feminity and masculinity, aggression, success, self-efficacy and self esteem, with emphasis on their symptoms and function in the professional sphere. In the practical part there are results of a quantitative research that was conducted on a sample of N = 204 respondents. These results are presented and discussed in the context of findings from previous studies of foreign and domestic environments. One of the most significant finding of this study is that men and women have not demonstrated significant differences within the studied aspects, and therefore it can not be argued that based on psychological assumptions men were predisposed to greater success at work than women.
