Use of geocaching in the leisure activities of young people aged 15 to 19 years

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá využitím hry geocaching ve volnočasových aktivitách mládeže ve věku od 15 do 19 let. Průzkum byl realizován na dvou brněnských gymnáziích na vzorku 185 žáků a třiceti učitelů. Teoretická část práce seznamuje s problematikou volného času mládeže, psychologickými a fyzickými aspekty adolescence a s hrou geocaching. Cílem práce bylo zjistit nejen postoj a využití geocachingu ve volném čase u vybraných adolescentů, ale také názory a informovanost u jejich učitelů. O výsledcích dotazníkového šetření informuje výzkumná část práce. Naše výsledky poukazují na skutečnost, že pouhých 5 % žáků nemělo praktickou zkušenost s GPS navigací, pojem geocaching znalo 87 % oslovených respondentů, ale aktivně se mu věnovalo jen 16 %. Více než polovina žáků se hře nechce věnovat v budoucnosti, ani navštěvovat takto zaměřený školní klub. Většina učitelů se s hrou prakticky neměla možnost seznámit, a to ani v rámci vysokoškolského studia, a více jak 66 % učitelů s hrou žáky vůbec neseznamuje, 23 % se o geocachingu zmiňuje alespoň teoreticky.

Abstract:

This master‘s thesis is focused on the using of geocaching in the leisure activities of young people aged 15 to 19 years. This survey of 185 students and 30 teachers was conducted at two grammar schools in Brno. The theoretical part deals with the issue of leisure time of young people, psychological and physical aspects of adolescence and the geocaching. The questionnaires haven’t been filled only by students, but also by their teachers, because we interested in their opinions too. Our results point out the fact, that only 5 % of students had practical experience with GPS, 87 % of respondents knew geocaching, but only 16 % was dedicated to playing that actively. More than half of students don’t want to play geocaching in the future or within school clubs. Most teachers has not opportunity to learn the game practically (even at the university), and more than 66 % of teachers don’t teach the pupils how to play the game practically at all, 23 % of them teach that only theoretically.
