The effect of flame retardants on the properties of cable insulation

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou vlivu retardérů hoření na vlastnosti kabelových izolací. Úvodem je představeno stručné vymezení základních pojmů související s tímto tématem. Dále jsou popsány nejvýznamnější polymerní materiály používané v kabelových izolacích a také vybrané aditivní materiály používané v této oblasti. Další popsanou problematikou jsou retardéry hoření využívané v kabelových izolacích a princip jejich funkce. Praktická část této práce se zabývá návrhem a realizací experimentu za účelem ověření vlivu retardéru na vlastnosti kabelových izolací v případě tří vzorků neznámé kabelové izolace za pomoci strukturálních analýz. Z této skupiny byly zvoleny čtyři techniky, tři termické analýzy (DSC, STA, DMA) a jedna spektrometrická technika (FTIR). Závěrem této práce je popis výsledků analýz jednotlivých vzorků vymezující získané informace o jednotlivých vzorcích s ohledem na retardéry hoření a celkové porovnání dosažených výsledků.

Abstract:

The presented thesis deals with the issue of the effect of flame retardants on the properties of cable insulation. A brief definition of the basic concepts related to this topic is introduced. Furthermore, there are described the most important polymeric materials used in cable insulation as well as selected additive materials used in this field. Other described issues are flame retardants used in cable insulation and the principle of their function. The practical part of this thesis deals with the design and implementation of an experiment in order to verify the effect of retardant on the properties of cable insulation in the case of three samples of unknown cable insulation using structural analysis. Four techniques were chosen, three thermal analyses (DSC, STA, DMA) and one spectrometric technique (FTIR). In conclusion, there are described the results of the analyses for each sample defining the obtained information with respect to flame retardants and an overall comparison of the results.
