Assisted reproduction and its development in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá oblastí asistované reprodukce, kterou autor vnímá jako jeden z nejvíce dynamických medicínských trhů současnosti. Zaměřuje se zejména na trh v České republice, která se stala kolébkou tohoto oboru ve střední a východní Evropě. Hlavním cílem práce je analyzovat český trh asistované reprodukce z právního a ekonomického pohledu. Následně výstupy z této analýzy zasadit do evropského kontextu, a to porovnáním s vybranými zeměmi Evropské unie a vyvodit z nich konkurenční výhody pro Českou republiku. V rámci splnění cíle je zde také představen moderní fenomén reprodukční turistiky a popsána kauzalita mezi demografickými statistikami a vývojem umělého oplodnění na českém území. Kromě teoretických východisek a výzkumů ze současných zdrojů je práce obohacena i o praktické znalosti lidí s mnohaletými zkušenostmi z tohoto oboru.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with business aspects of assisted reproduction, which the author considers one of the world’s most dynamic medical industries. It focuses on assisted reproduction market in the Czech Republic, which became the cradle of the respective field in Central and Eastern Europe. The main objective of the thesis is to analyse the Czech market of assisted reproduction from a legislative and economic perspective. The output from analysis is compared with other European countries’ statistics, which results in finding competitive advantages for the Czech Republic. In order to meet the main objective, this work also deals with the modern phenomenon of reproductive tourism and describes causality between demographic figures and the development of artificial insemination in the Czech lands. Apart from theoretical knowledge and current researches the thesis is enriched with practical knowledge of people who have years of experience in this field.
