The Frankfurt School and philosophy of Th. W. Adorno

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the philosophical concept of the Frankfurt School, especially the sociological and cultural theory of T. W. Adorno. It discusses the issues regarding social rationality and its current status and analyzes different views on the irrationality of modern capitalist society in critical theory. The thesis specifically reflects this irrationality in the context of Adorno's and Horkheimer's Dialectic of Enlightenment. Adorno's social, cultural and aesthetic theory, which gives a possible alternative to the Enlightenment rationality, is particularly accentuated. The aim is to analyze the possibility of forming an alternative kind of rationality, which is proven by the existence of art.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca je venovaná filozofickým konceptom Frankfurtskej školy, špeciálne spoločensko-kutlúrnej teórii T. W. Adorna. Práca rozoberá problematiku spoločenskej racionality a jej aktuálneho stavu. Analyzuje názory o iracionalite modernej kapitalistickej spoločnosti v kritickej teórii. Konkrétne v pojatí kontextu Adornovho a Horkheimerovho diela Dialektika osvietenstva. Zvláštna pozornosť je venovaná Adornovej sociálnej a kultúrno-estetickej teórie, v ktorej podáva možnú alternatívu k osvietenskej racionalite. Práca si kladie za ciel analyzovať možnosti výstavby alternatívnej formy racionality, ktorej dokladom existencie je umenie.
