Economic and legal aspects of the introduction of the euro in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Předložená práce je zaměřena na problematiku přijetí evropské měny euro v České republice. Nejprve vymezuje historii evropské integrace ve druhé polovině 20. století a rovněž historii vzniku a zavádění eura. Následně zmiňuje výhody a nevýhody přijetí eura a další související faktory. Vliv faktorů popsaných teoreticky je pak ukázán na několika modelových příkladech - jedná se konkrétně o existenci kurzových rozdílů. V práci je rovněž porovnáno HDP a odvozené veličiny mezi ekonomikami ČR a SR kvůli snaze posoudit dopady rozdílného přístupu obou zemí k euru. V rámci empirického výzkumu jsou analyzovány největší české firmy z hlediska existence kurzových rozdílů.

Abstract:

The presented work is focused on the issue of adoption of the euro in the Czech Republic. First, it defines the history of European integration in the second half of the 20th century as well as the history of the origin and introduction of the euro. It then mentions the advantages and disadvantages of adopting the euro and other related factors. The influence of the factors described theoretically is shown on several model examples - specifically on the existence of exchange rate differences. The thesis also compares GDP and derived values between Czech and Slovak economies in order to assess the impact of the different approaches of these two countries to the euro. The empirical research analyzes the largest Czech companies in terms of the existence of exchange rate differences.
