Pedagogical content knowledge and its application in english classes at elementary schools

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je zaměřena na didaktickou znalost obsahu a její aplikaci ve výuce angličtiny na 2. stupni ZŠ. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí. V teoretické části je popsána historie vzniku didaktické zanlosti obsahu a její vývoj až po současnost. Dále je v této části práce definován pojem "didaktická znalost obsahu". V empirické (praktické) části práce je popsán postup, kterým výzkum probíhal, dále jsou pak vysloveny dvě hypotézy, které se práce snaží na základě vyhodnocení dat nashromážděných při výzkumu, potvrdit. Výzkum by měl odhalit, jestli kvalifikovanost vyučujících hraje roli při volbě didakticky správných postupů pro předávání obsahů žákům.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is focused on pedagogical content knowledge and its application in English language classes at upper grades of elementary school. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part describes the origin of the term "pedagogical content knowledge" and its evolution up to present time. This part of the thesis also gives the definition of the term "pedagogical content knowledge". The empirical part describes the process of making the research and also states two hypotheses which the thesis aims to verify or disprove on basis of the accumulated research data. The research should show if the qualification of teachers has impact on their selection of didactically correct approaches to teaching.
