The Impact of the Transfer of the Sudeten Germans on the Cutlery Industry of the Šluknov Region

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá odsunem sudetských Němců z oblasti Šluknovska, který probíhal po skončení druhé světové války v letech 1945-1948, dopadem této události na tamější nožířský průmysl, ale také snahou zasažených průmyslových podniků své německé zaměstnance před odsunem ochránit. V prvních kapitolách jsou také přiblíženy demografické a politické poměry Sudet, stejně tak historie regionálního nožířství. Práce stojí na analýze a interpretaci mezipodnikové a úřední korespondence, sčítacích aparátech a hlášeních o stavu německé menšiny.

Abstract:

This work deals with the expulsion of Sudeten Germans from the Šluknov region, which took place after the end of World War II between the years 1945 and 1948, the impact of this event on the local cutlery industry, as well as the efforts of affected industrial companies to protect their German employees from expulsion. The first chapters also outline the demographic and political conditions of the Sudetenland, as well as the history of regional cutlery. The work is based on the analysis and interpretation of inter-company and official correspondence, census data, and reports on the status of the German minority.
