Teacher Assistants Competence as a Support to a Student with Special Educational Needs at Certain Secondary School in the Pilsen Region

Abstract:

Cílem závěrečné práce bylo získat a analyzovat informace o práci asistentů pedagoga na vybrané střední škole v Plzeňském kraji a sledovat utvářejí jejich kompetencí při vzdělávání žáků se speciálními vzdělávacími potřebami, a to z pohledu samotných asistentů pedagoga. V teoretické části jsem charakterizovala pojmy, které se týkají informací o funkci asistenta pedagoga a jeho postavení v legislativě. V praktické části popisuji vlastní výzkum, který probíhal formou dotazníku a byl určen pro všechny asistenty pedagoga na zkoumané škole. Bylo zjištěno, že vlastní kompetence se na zkoumané škole tvoří zejména ve vzájemné interakci asistenta pedagoga, třídního učitele. Spolupráce mezi školním poradenským pracovištěm a asistenty pedagoga není dosud efektivně nastavena a představuje největší výzvu pro následující období činnosti školy.

Abstract:

The goal of this work was to obtain and analyze the information about teachers assistant job at a certain high school Pilsen region, as well as to observe the development of their competencies during the aducation of the students with special educational needs from the perspective of teachers assistants. Tn a theoretical part of this work, I characterized concepts that relate to the information about teachers assistants role and their position in legislation. In a practical part od this work, I described the questionnaire-based study that was given to ten respondents, more precisely all of the reachers assistants at the given high school. The purpose of the study was to clarify how the teachers assistants competencies are developed from their own point of view, what kind of requirements ae placed on them as well as their duties at the given high school. The purpose was also to clarify who participates in a formation of the taschers assistants competencies and how. Based on information verified in the research part of my work, in has been found that the competence of the teaching assintant is primarily formed through the mutual interaction of the teaching assistant, the class teacher, and other eduational staff with whom the assistant collaborates on a daily basis. Cooperation between the school counseling department and teaching assistants at the examined secondary school has not yet been effectively established and represents the biggest challenge for the schools future activities.
