Anthropological Thought and Archaeology in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Práce si klade za cíl podat přehled o antropologickém myšlení v archeologii. V první části vysvětluje jeho význam a nastiňuje stručný vývoj obou disciplín ve světě i v českém prostředí. Druhou část tvoří dotazníkový průzkum „Percepce archeologie“, který proběhl v letním semestru roku 2008 a zahrnoval šetření na katedrách archeologie v Brně, Hradci Králové, Plzni a Praze. Cílem výzkumu bylo získat obraz vnímání archeologie a její univerzitní výuky na základě názorů studentů archeologie. Formulovány byly tři základní hypotézy: a) pojetí archeologie a jejího metodologického základu se na jednotlivých sledovaných katedrách liší; b) tyto rozdíly jsou v korelaci s délkou studia, což znamená, že pokročilí studenti jsou ve svých názorech více ovlivněni danou katedrou; c) studenti mají základní povědomí o kulturní a sociální antropologii a vybraných tématech současné archeologie, které s antropologií do jisté míry souvisí. První dvě hypotézy byly výzkumem potvrzeny. Co se týká třetí formulované teze, bylo zjištěno, že znalosti této problematiky nejsou u studentů běžné.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to make an overview of anthropological thought in archaeology. In the first part it explains its significance and briefly outlines the evolution of both disciplines worldwide and in the Czech background. The second part is based on questionnaire survey „Perception of archaeology“, which took place in spring 2008 at departments of archaeology in Brno, Hradec Králové, Plzeň and Prague. The aim of the survey was to obtain a picture of how is archaeology percieved by students of different universities. Three hypotheses were made: a) the concept of archaeology and its methodological basis differ at the departments mentioned; b) there are differences between grades of the same department; more advanced students are more influenced by the departments concept of archaeology; c) students have basic knowledge of social and cultural anthropology and selected contemporary themes of archaeology influenced by anthropology. The first two hypotheses were confirmed by the survey, but the basic knowledge of themes mentioned in the third hypothesis is not common among students.
