Dizertační práce zkoumá vývoj katolických přechodových rituálů pod vlivem procesu modernizace a sekularizace společnosti v "dlouhém" 19. století (1789-1914). Čtyři klíčové katolické rituály - křest, biřmování, sňatek a pohřeb - byly zkoumány z pohledu katolické církve, která v uvedeném období musela čelit dalekosáhlým modernizačním tendencím, jež zasáhly i do podoby těchto rituálů. The dissertation examines the development of Catholic rites of transition under the influence of the process of the modernization and secularization of the society in the "long" 19th century (1789-1914).
