Administration system for sim-racing league organization

Abstract:

Sim-racing je označení pro závodění v simulovaném virtuálním prostředí, které se v době pandemie stalo populární alternativou k odloženým motoristickým šampionátům. Vzrůst popularity vedl k nárůstu nových šampionátů a lig. Tato práce se zabývá problematikou administrace sim-racingových lig, konkrétně nástroji pro správu. Práce poskytuje seznámení neznalého čtenáře se světem sim-racingu, jeho výhodami i nevýhodami oproti reálným závodům. Čtenářům je dále poskytnut přehled existujících řešení pro administraci lig, ale i poskytovatelů informací a dat o reálných závodech. Cílem práce je, na základě poznatků z analýzy existujících řešení a zkušeností autora práce, vyvinout a poskytnout administrátorům nástroj pro jednoduchou správu jejich lig, který umožní snadnou správu jezdců, týmů, závodního kalendáře, penalizací a výsledků. Vytvořená aplikace byla nasazena do provozu a otestována komunitou. Zpětná vazba z testovacího provozu je do aplikace implementována. Aplikace bude komunitě i nadále k dispozici pro jejich potřeby.

Abstract:

Sim-racing is a name for racing in a simulated virtual environment, which became popular during pandemic as an alternative to real-life championships, which were delayed. The sudden increase in popularity has lead to a birth of many new leagues and championships. This thesis addresses sim-racing league administration issues as it provides a tool for their management. The thesis acquaints reader with a world of sim-racing and its pros and cons against real-world racing. Readers get an overview of some existing tools for league administrations and some real-life news outlets and championship websites. The main goal of the thesis is to use analysis data and authors sim-racing experience to develop a tool for league administrators to ease their administration work with features like driver management, team management, race calendar management, penalty management and result management. Developed web application has been released and tested by a community. Feedback from the community is being implemented into the application. The application will remain online for the community to use.
