Use of basal stimulation from the perspective of occupational therapist for patients with stroke

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na využití konceptu bazální stimulace u pacientů po cévní mozkové příhodě s neglect syndromem. Teoretická část je rozdělena na tři kapitoly. V první části je okrajově popsána cévní mozková příhoda, její dělení, klinický obraz, rizikové faktory a její prognóza. Druhá část je věnována neglect syndromu jako takovému, ergoterapii u pacientů s neglect syndromem, jeho testování v rámci ergoterapie a představeny jsou také dopady neglect syndromu z pohledu ergoterapeuta. Třetí část popisuje koncept bazální stimulace a jednotlivé její základní a nástavbové prvky a jejich využití v ergoterapeutické praxi. Praktická část obsahuje kazuistiky pacientů, u kterých bylo provedeno vstupní vyšetření, následná ergoterapeutická intervence a výstupní vyšetření. Cílem je poukázat na možnosti využití bazální stimulace v ergoterapii u pacientů po cévní mozkové příhodě s neglect syndromem. Dále jsou v rámci kazuistiky zmíněny dílčí krátkodobé a dlouhodobé cíle, které byly stanoveny společně s pacientem a jeho rodinnými příslušníky.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on the use of the concept of basal stimulation in stroke patients with neglect syndrome. The theoretical part is divided into three parts. The first part briefly describes stroke, its division, clinical picture, risk factors and prognosis. The second part is devoted to neglect syndrome as such, to occupational therapy in patients with neglect syndrome, its testing in occupational therapy and to the question of the implications of neglect syndrome from the perspective of the occupational therapist. The third part describes the concept of basal stimulation and the different basic and enhanced elements and their use in occupational therapy practice. The practical part contains case studies of patients who underwent an initial examination, subsequent occupational therapy intervention and a final examination. The aim is to highlight the possibilities of using basal stimulation in occupational therapy in stroke patients with neglect syndrome. Furthermore, the case report mentions the short-term and the long-term goals that were agreed with the patient and his family members.
