Situational Humour in Jerome Klapka Jerome's Novel Three Men in a Boat

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis attempts to find all sources of Jerome Klapka Jerome? s situational humour in his novel Three Men in a Boat: (To Say Nothing of the Dog), to analyze them from the point of view of literary criticism, evaluate and present the conclusions of this analysis on the following pages. For better understanding of the problem and the very reasons of the author?s comic writing, this bachelor thesis also briefly describes Jerome Klapka Jerome?s life, his famous works and also his most famous masterpiece, Three Men in a Boat: (To Say Nothing of the Dog). The second, theoretical part explains all theoretical questions connected with humour, especially the situational humour.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se pokouší nalézt veškeré zdroje situačního humoru Jeroma Klapky Jeroma v jeho románu Tři muži ve člunu: (o psu nemluvě), analyzovat je z pohledu literární vědy a na následujících stranách prezentovat závěry tohoto výzkumu. Pro lepší porozumění problému a samotných příčin autorovy komiky se tato bakalářská práce také stručně zabývá životem Jeromeho Klapky Jeroma, jeho slavnými díly a jeho nejslavnějším mistrovským dílem, Třem mužům ve člunu (o psu nemluvě). Druhá, teoretická část vysvětluje veškeré teoretické otázky spojené s humorem, obzvláště situačním humorem.
