Efficiency comparison in accommodation, food, and hospitality sector

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá srovnáním efektivnosti jednotlivých států EU v rámci sektoru ubytování, stravování a pohostinství. Jako součást cestovního ruchu tvoří zvolený sektor velké procento terciálního sektoru a ovlivňuje tak ekonomickou situaci každé země. Pro odhad hodnot míry efektivnosti jednotlivých států byla použita neparametrická metoda analýzy obalu dat. Pomocí vybraných modelů byla vyčíslena hodnota míry efektivnosti jednotlivých států za každé časové období v rozmezí roku 2013 až 2015. Výsledky ukazují, že vybraný sektor většiny států dosahuje poměrně vysoké efektivnosti. Změna a vývoj míry efektivnosti za dané období jsou zkoumány pomocí Malmquistova indexu. Výsledky indikují spíše mír-ně klesající trend vývoje z hlediska celkové situace zemí na trhu sektoru.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the efficiency comparison of individual country in the European Union within their accommodation, food, and hospitality sector. As a part of tourism, it makes up a large percentage of a tertiary sector and affects the economic situation in each country. To estimate the values of the efficiency measures of individual countries within selected sector, the non-parametric method of data envelopment analysis is used. In using selected models, the value of the efficiency score of selected countries for each period from 2013 to 2015 has been calculated. The results show that most of the countries in selected sector achieve a relatively high efficiency score. The change and development of the effi-ciency score over a given period are examined by Malmquist index. The results indicate a rather slight declining trend in terms of the overall situation of the coun-tries in the market.
