Communication cards in the medical rescue service

Abstract:

Komunikace je jedním ze základních prostředků práce ve zdravotnické záchranné službě. Nestačí jen přístrojové vybavení a odborné znalosti. Je třeba mít na paměti také lidský rozměr, kde právě komunikace jak verbální, tak i neverbální hraje velkou roli. V teoretické části se zabýváme jednak komunikací obecně, věnujeme se i specifikům a odlišnostem při komunikaci s jinými národnostmi a etniky. Pokud je přítomna jazyková bariéra, tak je celý proces dorozumívání a pochopení značně ztížen. Jako jeden z prostředků, který by měl v tomto pomoci, jsou jazykové komunikační karty. Právě využitím komunikačních karet v rámci přednemocniční neodkladné péče jsme se v naší bakalářské práci zabývali provedením dotazníkového šetření mezi zaměstnanci Zdravotnické záchranné služby Moravskoslezského kraje. Mezi respondenty byly zastoupeny všechny profese výjezdových jednotek, nejčetněji nelékařský zdravotnický personál (dále NLZP). Bylo pokryto i celé spektrum délky praxe a věkové rozpětí. Až na výjimky všichni respondenti komunikační karty znali a zdál se jim dostatečný rozsah oblastí a frází na komunikačních kartách. Vzešel podnětný návrh na doplnění reverzu a negativního reverzu. Většina odpovídajících by uvítala další vzdělávání v jazykové oblasti a komunikaci s cizinci s přihlédnutím ke specifikům jednotlivých etnik. Je ale poměrně malé využití komunikačních karet v praxi. Respondenti uváděli buď svoji dostatečnou jazykovou vybavenost, nebo minimální setkávaní se v praxi s ošetřovanými, kteří nehovoří česky, případně upřednostňování modernějších technologií (on-line překladače) v komunikaci.

Abstract:

Communication is one of the main work skills in the ambulance service. Only the professional equipment and clinical knowledge are not sufficient. It is also important to keep in mind human factors, where communication, both verbal and nonverbal take a major part. In the theory part we deal with communication in general and we devote to specifics and differences in communication with other nationalities and ethnics. If the language barrier is present, then the whole process of intercommunication and understanding is very limited. One the aspects which can be helpful are communication cards. The use of communication cards in the emergency pre-hospital care in our Bachelor thesis is based on survey among employees of Moravian - Silesian ambulance service. Among the respondents was all the operational staff and the most frequent occupation was a non-medical healthcare professionals. The whole spectrum of practice length and the age range was covered. Except for a few exceptions all respondents know these communication cards and they state there is a sufficient range of emergency situations and phrases to use. The suggestion was made regarding the addition of the refusal form. The majority of respondents would appreciate further language learning with the focus on the specificities of each ethnic group. However, there is a relatively small use of communication cards in practice. Respondents reported either their sufficient language skills or the minimum number of patients who do not speak Czech, furthermore they prefer modern communication technologies (e.g. on-line translators).
