Crusaders’ School of Pure Humour without Wit in the Context of the Contemporary Cultural Reality

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce mapuje činnost Křižovnické školy čistého humoru bez vtipu. Zaměřuje se především na setkávání a interakci jejích členů, které lze chápat jako druh happeningu, spíše než na vytváření hmotných uměleckých artefaktů. Tyto aktivity byly založené zejména na osobitém humoru a recesi, v čemž je patrný odkaz na skupinu Šmidrové. V této práci se také pokusíme o zařazení Křižovnické školy do tehdejší kulturní situace, čímž se zároveň snažíme odpovědět na otázku, zda se skutečně jedná o undergroundovou skupinu, za kterou bývá nejčastěji považována.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis maps the activities of the Crusaders’ School of Pure Humour without Wit. It focuses primarily on the meetings and interactions of its members, which can be understood as a kind of happening rather than the creating of tangible artistic artefacts. These activities were mainly based on the unique sense of humor and recession, in which the reference to the group Šmidrové is apparent. In this work we also attempt a classification of the Crusaders’ School in the cultural situation of that time with which we also try to answer the question of whether this is indeed an underground group, for which it is most often considered to be.
