The process of generalization in teaching elementary arithmetic

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je ověřit aktuální podmínky pro rozvoj fáze poznávacího procesu žáka v aritmetice prvního stupně základní školy. Práce se zaměřuje na tvorbu izolovaných modelů a jejich zobecnění do modelu generického. Předmětem zájmu je zjištění, zda se v rámci aritmetiky objevuje dostatečný počet vhodných úloh, a zda učitel disponuje teoretickými znalostmi a praktickými dovednostmi, jak úlohy správně používat. Teoretická část zahrnuje základní informace o Rámcovém vzdělávacím programu pro základní vzdělávání v oblasti matematiky a větší pozornost je věnována fázím poznávacího procesu žáka, se kterými se setkává v aritmetice na prvním stupni ZŠ. Praktická část je věnována analýze učebnic matematiky z pěti různých nakladatelství a hledání učebních úloh na zobecňování. Součástí je i dotazníkové šetření, které zjišťovalo teoretické znalosti učitelů o fázi zobecňování a užívanou praxi u těchto úloh.

Abstract:

The aim of this master?s thesis is to certify actual conditions for the development of the phase concerning pupil?s cognitive process in arithmetic at primary school. The thesis concentrates on the formation of the isolated models and their generalization into the generic models. The main subject matter deals with the determination whether there appears an appropriate number of suitable tasks as far as goes about arithmetic. And also whether the teacher has the ability to work with that tasks right concerning the theoretical approach as well as the practical one. The theoretical part of my thesis incudes the basic information about the Framework education programme for elementary education at Mathematics. More focus is dedicated to phases of pupil?s cognitive process, which they are getting familiar with in the first five years when attending the primary school. The practical part is dedicated to analysis of mathematics books from five different publishers and to looking for the learning tasks to generalize. Another important part forms an inquiry via questionnaires, which were finding out about the theoretical knowledge of the generalization from teachers and about the practice used in that tasks.
