Lattice and graph reaction-diffusion equations with higher-order polynomial nonlinearities

Abstract:

This thesis investigates reaction-diffusion dynamics on finite discrete structures represented by undirected graphs, with a focus on the complete graph on two vertices. We analyze three nonstandard nonlinear reaction functions: a quintic polynomial, a sinusoidal function, and piecewise linear caricatures of periodic functions. For the caricatures, we analytically derive stationary solutions and categorize them into equivalence classes based on their qualitative properties. The study reveals diverse dynamics including infinitely many stationary solutions. Theoretical results are supported by theoretical analysis and numerical simulations on simple graph structures.

Abstract:

Tato práce studuje dynamiku reakčně-difuzní rovnice na diskrétní struktuře úplného grafu na dvou vrcholech. Analyzujeme tři nestandartní nelineární reakční funkce: kvintický polynom, sinusoidu a po částech lineární karikatury spojité periodické funkce. Pro karikatury nacházíme stacionární řešení analyticky a kategorizujeme je do tříd ekvivalence na základě jejich kvalitativních vlastností. Studie odhaluje různorodou dynamiku včetně existence nekonečně mnoha stacionárních řešení. Teoretické poznatky jsou podpořeny numerickými simulacemi, které poskytují lepší vhled do dynamiky nelineárních systémů na triviální grafové struktuře.
