Abstract:
This thesis deals with the phenomenon of code-switching between spanish and english in USA. The goal of the thesis is to describe the way code-switching is used in fiction. By analysing the novel The Brief wondrous life of Oscar Wao, we are showing the functional differences between common, spoken code-mixing and the code-mixing in literature.
Abstract:
Diplomová práce se zabývá fenoménem střídání jazykových kódů, konkrétně španělštiny a angličtiny ve Spojených státech amerických. Hlavním cílem práce je popsat způsob, jakým se střídání jazykových kódů užívá v beletrii. Na základě analýzy románu The Brief wondrous life of Oscar Wao je zde poukázáno na funkční rozdíly mezi střídáním jazyků v běžné, mluvené podobě a v literatuře.
