The Role of Fathers in Romany Families Using Social Activation Services

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá rolí otců v romských rodinách, které využívají sociálně aktivizační službu pro rodiny s dětmi. Věnuje se prožívání otcovství romskými otci a vnímání jejich spolupráce s touto službou. V teoretické části práce je nejprve konceptualizován pojem rodina a specifikována rodina romská, poté je popsán vývoj otcovské role do své současné podoby, je uchopen pojem otcovství a role otce je nastíněna v kontextu romských rodin. Dále se práce v teoretických východiscích zabývá zařazením rodiny do systému sociální politiky a vysvětluje postavení sociálně aktivizační služby pro rodiny s dětmi v tomto systému. Praktická část práce si poté klade za cíl zjistit, jak vnímají otcové z klientských rodin svoji roli v rodině. Dále je cílem zmapovat zkušenost otců se sociálně aktivizační službou. Výsledky práce mohou přispět k pochopení vlivu proměňující se otcovské role na romské otce. Tím mohou také pomoci pracovníkům sociálně aktivizační služby získat náhled na oblasti, ve kterých se někteří otcové angažují, a odvodit potenciál pro jejich další zapojování.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the role of fathers in Romani families using social activation services for families with children. It focuses on the experience of fatherhood by Roma fathers and their perception of their cooperation with the service. The theoretical part of the thesis first conceptualises the concept of family and specifies the Roma family, then describes the development of the father's role into its current form, grasps the concept of fatherhood and outlines the role of the father in the context of Roma families. Furthermore, the theoretical background of the thesis deals with the inclusion of the family in the social policy system and explains the position of social activation services for families with children in this system. The practical part of the thesis then aims to find out how fathers from client families perceive their role in the family. Furthermore, the aim is to map the fathers' experience with the social activation service. The results of the thesis can contribute to the understanding of the influence of the changing father role on Roma fathers. In doing so, they may also help social activation service workers gain insight into the areas in which some fathers are involved and derive the potential for further involvement.
