Anxiety in lower secondary school students: teachers' experiences and attitudes toward the topic

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na zkušenosti a postoje pedagogů na 2. stupni základních škol k tématu úzkosti u jejich žáků. Cílem práce je zkoumat, zda učitelé mají povědomí o úzkosti a jejím vlivu na žáky, jak k ní přistupují, ale také jak subjektivně hodnotí své vlastní znalosti a kompetentnost v této oblasti. Bakalářská práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a empirickou. Teoretická část se zabývá duševním zdravím a různými determinanty, které mohou ovlivňovat duševní zdraví dětí a dospívajících. Následně se pozornost přesouvá na duševní nemoci a úzkost a teoretickou část uzavírá kapitola týkající se školního prostředí a s ním spojenou úzkostí. Empirická část zkoumala zkušenosti a postoje učitelů k tématu úzkosti. Výzkumný vzorek čítal 218 respondentů, kterými byli učitelé druhého stupně základních škol z celého území České republiky.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the experiences and attitudes of lower secondary school teachers toward the topic of anxiety in their students. The aim of the thesis is to explore whether teachers have an awareness of anxiety and its impact on students, how they approach it, but also how they subjectively assess their own knowledge and competence in this area. The bachelor thesis is divided into a theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part deals with mental health and the different determinants that may influence the mental health of children and adolescents. Subsequently, the focus shifts to mental illnesses and anxiety and the theoretical part concludes with a chapter on the school environment and its associated anxiety. The empirical part explored teachers' experiences and attitudes toward the topic of anxiety. The research sample consisted of 218 respondents who were lower secondary school teachers from all over the Czech Republic.
