Abstract:
Kastráti byli zpočátku jen interprety církevní hudby, ale rozvoj opery poskytl jejich hlasovým možnostem další prostor. Obrovskou slávu získali zejména v letech 1650-1750, kdy byli běžně obsazováni v operních představeních. Tato praxe trvala až do konce 18. století. Největší věhlas získal C. Broschi (Farinelli). Abstract:
Initially, castrati were performers of church music, but the development of opera provided them with another scope for their vocal capabilities. They became famous especially in 1650s and 1750s owing to the fashion to engage them in operas, which lasted until the end of 18th century. The greatest ones of them were earning very high salaries.
