Diplomová práce se zabývá fenoménem Web 2.0 – sociálními weby. Popisuje jejich vznik a rozšíření a specifikuje jejich charakter, podobu a určující vlastnosti: změnu komunikačního modelu, setření hranice mezi autory a konzumenty, participaci uživatelů, reputační systémy a přesun od desktopových aplikací k webovým službám. The Master's Thesis is engaged in the Web 2.0 phenomenon – social networks. It describes their origin, rise and expansion, and specifies their characteristics: change in communication systems, blurring of the borderline between author and consumer, user participation, reputation systems and shift from desktop application to web services.
