Investments in innovation in Israel – the case of software

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá investicemi do inovací v Izraeli, které jsou podrobněji zkoumány na případu softwaru. Izrael se v posledních letech stal velmi inovativní ekonomikou s bohatstvím ve vědomostech. Tato malá země obsadila přední místa ve světových žebříčcích inovativnosti a stojí za mnoha vynálezy. Je také známá vznikem mnoha start-upů a velkou atraktivností pro mezinárodní společnosti, které zde zakládají svoje centra výzkumu a vývoje. Mnoho z nich je právě z odvětví softwaru. Tato oblast průmyslu v Izraeli rychle roste a získává na stále větší důležitosti. Cílem této práce je tedy identifikovat specifika investic do inovací v Izraeli za posledních dvacet let se zaměřením na sektor softwaru. První kapitola tvoří obecný úvod do problematiky inovací. Druhá část definuje specifika izraelského inovačního prostředí. Popsáno je kulturní, historické a geografické prostředí a zmíněna je i investiční politika. Dále jsou zde identifikovány zdroje, množství, způsob financování a cílové sektory investic do výzkumu a vývoje. V poslední části pak jsou pro větší detailnost analyzovány jednotlivé vstupy a výstupy do inovací v odvětví softwaru.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis deals with Israeli investments in innovation. In more detail on the example of software. In recent years, Israel has become a very innovative economy with a wealth of knowledge. This small country has topped the world's innovation charts and is behind many inventions. It is known for the origin of many start-ups. Also, many multinational companies have built their research and development centres there. Many of them are engaged in software development. The software industry in the country is rapidly growing, and it is gaining importance. The growth is supported by research and development expenditures. The aim of this work is to identify the specifics of investments in innovation in Israel over the last twenty years, focusing on the software sector. The first chapter provides a general introduction to the topic of innovations. The second part defines specifics of cultural, historical and geographical innovation environment. The investment policy is mentioned as well. Then there are identified sources, amount, financing and sectors of investments into research and development. In the final chapter, which is focused on software in more detail, the individual innovation inputs and outputs are examined.
