Sexuality of cancer patients

Abstract:

Diplomová práce "Sexualita onkologicky nemocných pacientů" má za úkol prozkoumat přirozené prostředí ošetřovatelské jednotky a popisuje jevy a zkušenosti týkající se potřeb v oblasti sexuality pacientů s maligním onemocněním. Teoretický základ pracuje s odbornou literaturou a napomáhá čtenáři vniknout do problematiky této ošetřovatelské domény. Zabývá se definicí, koncepcí a charakterizuje vliv onkologické léčby na sexualitu ženy a muže. Na konec teoretické části je zpracován přehled nástrojů a modelů pro posouzení sexuality a sexuálního zdraví. V empirické části je proveden průzkum ošetřovatelské jednotky s hlavním cílem odpovědět na výzkumnou otázku, týkající se toho, jak personál této jednotky přistupuje k sexualitě onkologicky nemocných. Při tvorbě empirické části bylo získáno množství rozdílných dat, která byla sbírána kombinací několika metod kvalitativního designu - retrospektivní analýza zdravotnické dokumentace, nestrukturované pozorování, dotazník a polostrukturovaný rozhovor. Závěrem této diplomové práce je zpracováno celkové shrnutí struktur, výsledků a cílů. Konec obsahuje zamyšlení autora a prosté doporučení pro praxi. Důležitým úkolem této části byla příprava pracovní hypotézy pro budoucí možnost jejího statistického testování, jejíž součástí by byl nástroj EORTC SHQ-C22 Sexual Health

Abstract:

The diploma thesis "Sexuality of Oncological Patients" aims to explore the natural environment of the nursing unit and describes the phenomena and experiences related to the needs in the field of sexuality of patients with malignant disease. The theoretical basis works with professional literature and helps the reader to penetrate the issues of this nursing domain. It deals with the definition, concept and characterizes the influence of oncological treatment on the sexuality of women and men. At the end of the theoretical part there is an overview of tools and models for assessing sexuality and sexual health. In the empirical part, a survey of the nursing unit is conducted with the main goal of answering a research question concerning how the staff of this unit approaches the sexuality of cancer patients. During the creation of the empirical part, several different data were obtained, which was collected by a combination of several methods of qualitative design - retrospective analysis of medical documentation, unstructured observation, questionnaire and semi-structured interview. At the end of this diploma thesis is a general summary of structures, results and goals. The end contains the author's thoughts and simple recommendations for practice. An important task of this part was the preparation of a working hypothesis for the future possibility of its statistical testing, which would include the tool EORTC SHQ-C22 Sexual Health
