Activity of elderly people in institutional arrangement

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem výzkumu je zmapovat aktivitu seniorů ve zvolených institucionálních zařízeních a zjistit odlišnosti mezi zařízeními a také v závislosti na nutričním stavu, věku a typu genderu a zjistit aktivizační programy ve zvolených institucionálních zařízeních. Metodika: Soubor respondentů činil 201 seniorů v Domově Čujkovova, Ostrava-Zábřeh, příspěvková organizace a v Domově Slunečnice Ostrava, příspěvková organizace. Sběr dat byl realizován Bc. Ladou Navrátilovou v období od června do října 2013. Pro splnění cílů výzkumného šetření bylo využito položek testu Activity daily living od Barthelové a Mini Nutritional Assessment od Guigoze spolu s otázkami zjišťujícími demografické údaje, přítomnost/nepřítomnost bolesti, zájem o sport/aktivitu v minulosti a současnosti a orientaci místem, časem a osobou. Výsledky byly zpracovány použitím programu MS Excel a internetového programu Openepi.com ? chí-kvadrát testu. Statistické testy byly hodnoceny na hladině významnosti 5 %. Výsledky: Výzkumným šetřením jsme zjistili, že míra soběstačnosti seniorů mezi zvolenými institucionálními zařízeními se neliší (p-hodnota 0,1077). Byla zjištěna statisticky významná odlišnost v míře soběstačnosti vzhledem ke genderu (p-hodnota 0,03024) a k nutričnímu stavu (p-hodnota 0,00001212). Ženám jde lépe oblékání a muži jsou více soběstační v použití WC, přesunu z lůžka na židli a chůzi po rovině a do schodů. Spolu s horším nutričním stavem se zhoršuje provádění běžných denních aktivit. Pro klienty/klientky domovů seniorů jsou organizovány aktivizační činnosti jako jsou např. petanque, manuální činnosti nebo výlety, imobilní jedinci jsou aktivizováni prostřednictvím individuálního přístupu/plánu. Závěr: Doporučujeme realizaci dalších výzkumných šetření mapujících stav jejich soběstačnosti v rámci populace celé České republiky.

Abstract:

Objective: The aim of this research is to map elderly people activity in chosen institucional facilities and to find out the differences between facilities and also in dependency on nutritional status, age and gender and to find out programs that activate people in chosen institutional facilities. Methodology: Sample of the respondents was in amount 201 people living in the House of Elderly Čujkovova, Ostrava-Zábřeh, state-funded institution and the House of Elderly Slunečnice Ostrava, state-funded institution. Collection of the dates was realized by Bc. Lada Navrátilová in the term of June ? October 2013. To achieve these research questions aims, the items of the Activity daily living test from Barthel and Mini Nutritional Assessment from Guigoz were used together with questions discovering demographics data, questions on presence/absence of pain, interest in activity now and in the past, and questions focused on orientation in place, time and person. The results were processed by program MS Excel and Internet program Openepi.com ? chí-square test. Statistical tests were evaluated on the level of 5 % significancy. Results: By the research we have found out, that in the level of elderly people self-sufficiency between chosen institutional facilities there is no difference (p-value 0,1077). There were found out statistically significant differences in the level of independency with regard to the gender (p-value 0,03024) and with regard to the nutritional status (p-value 0,00001212). Women are better in dressing and men are more independent in using of the toilet, transfer from bed to chair, and walking on the row and to the stairs. With worse nutritional status there is worse realizing of daily activities. For the house of elderly residents there are organisated activating procedures as for example petanque, manual activity or trips, immobile people are activated on the way of individual approach/plan. Conclusion: We would recommend implementation of further researches mapping the status of the elderly people independency level inside the population of all The Czech republic.
