Perspektive of residential social services for seniors in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Předkládaná magisterská diplomová práce nazvaná ,, Perspektiva pobytových sociálních služeb pro seniory na území ČR“, je zaměřena na pobytové sociální služby pro seniory na území České republiky. Práce se skládá z části teoretické a empirické. V teoretické části se dovolím seznámit čtenáře s pojmem sociální práce, s její stručnou historií a aktuálními změnami, s termínem senior, a podrobněji se zaměřím na typy pobytových sociálních služeb pro seniory. Zmíním dávky sociální podpory a ostatní případné příjmy seniora. Dále zmíním zákon o sociálních službách. Část této kapitoly se bude zabývat demografickou stránkou problému, tedy prodlužováním produktivního věku, stárnutí populace a s tím spojenými komplikacemi v oblasti péče o rodinné příslušníky závislé na pomoci druhých. Empirická část obsahuje stručný popis výzkumného postupu, analýzu a interpretaci získaných dat z provedeného výzkumu. Hlavním cílem práce je prokázat, hrozící kolaps pobytových sociálních služeb pro seniory. Pokud nedojde k zásadnímu opatření ze strany státu, může naše společnost do několika let očekávat kolaps sociálních služeb zajišťující péči o seniory.

Abstract:

The presented master´s thesis entitled “ Perspective of residential social services for seniors in the Czech Republic” is focused on residential social services for elderly on the territory of the Czech Republic. The thesis consists of the theoretical and the empirical part. In the theoretical part I would like to acquaint the reader with the concept of social work, its brief history and current changes, with the term senior itself, and I will focus more in detail on the types of residential social services for seniors. I will mention social support benefits and other possible incomes of elderly people. Further I will describe the Social Services Act. One part of this chapter will also deal with the demographic aspects of the problematics, i.e. prolongation of the productive age, the aging of the population and the associated complications in the care of family members dependent on the help of other people. The empirical part contains a brief description of the research process, analysis and interpretation of the data obtained from the research. The main goal of the work is to prove the impending collapse of residential social services for the elderly. Unless major actions are taken by the state authorities, our community can expect a collapse of social services providing care for elderly within a few years.
