Applicability of the Vietnamese in the labour market compared to the majority population group in the region of Prague

Abstract:

Cílem práce je srovnání pracovních příleţitostí z hlediska národnosti za účelem tvorby doporučení ke zrovnoprávnění vietnamské národnostní menšiny a majoritní skupiny obyvatel v regionu Praha, kdy zkoumaným faktorem je dopad příslušnosti k cizímu etniku na šance zisku pracovní pozice. K dosaţení cíle jsou vyuţita primární data, která jsou získána pomocí terénního experimentu a dotazníkového šetření mezi obyvateli regionu Praha. Následná data jsou zpracována statistickými metodami (Pearsonův chí-kvadrát test nezávislosti, studentův t-test, ANOVA metoda a test shody dvou podílů), jenţ dále poskytují výsledky ukazující diskriminaci osob vietnamského etnika na trhu práce oproti majoritní skupině obyvatel, která se projevuje niţší úspěšností při získávání pracovní pozice. Diskriminace se nejvíce projevuje u osob se základním vzděláním a zároveň je vliv cizího etnika na šance zisku zaměstnání silnější u muţů neţli u ţen. Práce slouţí jako základ dalším vědeckým pracím zabývajícím se etnickou diskriminací na trhu práce, obzvláště pak studiím zabývajícím se diskriminací osob vietnamského etnika, kdy dochází k usnadnění identifikace a prevence činitelů, které způsobují etnickou diskriminaci.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to compare job opportunities in terms of nationality with the purpose of making recommendations for the equalization of the Vietnamese minority and the majority population in the Prague region, where the examined factor is the impact of the foreign ethnicity on the chances of getting a job. Primary data is used to reach the objective, which are obtained by field experiment and questionnaire survey among the inhabitants of the Prague region. Subsequent data are processed by statistical methods (Pearson's chi-square test of independence, student's t-test, analysis of variance and two-part conformity test), which also show results of discrimination against Vietnamese people in the labor market compared to the majority population in getting a job. Discrimination is most evident in groups of people with basic education and also ethnicity influence on the chances of getting work are stronger in men than in women. The thesis serves as a basis for further scientific work about ethnic discrimination in the labor market, especially studies dealing with discrimination against Vietnamese ethnicities, which simplify identification and prevention of factors that cause ethnic discrimination.
