The fall of values during the Spanish Civil War in the Spanish literature

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is to conduct an analysis of the fall of values of Spanish society by the influence of the Spanish Civil War of 1936 to 1939. The paper is divided into two main parts in order to conduct the analysis of this phenomenon. The first, theoretical, part deals with the breakdown of the values themselves and it also briefly depicts the historical background of the society of pre-war and war Spain at the same time. The second part focuses on the practical side of the topic and works with selected works of Spanish literature that are either directly set in the war or in the immediate time periods, where the influence of the war is still palpable. The resulting analysis sets the goal of exploring the influences of the War on the Spain and on the values of its society the way they are portrayed in the literature of this nation.

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je provést analýzu úpadku hodnot španělské společnosti vlivem Španělské občanské války z let 1936 až 1939. Za účelem provedení analýzy tohoto fenoménu se práce dělí do dvou hlavních částí. První, teoretická, část se zabývá rozborem samotných hodnot a zároveň stručně vykresluje historické pozadí společnosti Španělska předválečné a válečné doby. Druhá část se pak zaměřuje na praktickou stránku věci a využívá vybraná díla španělské literatury, ať již dějem přímo zasazené do války nebo do blízkého období, kdy je její dopad znatelný. Výsledná analýza si pak klade za cíl prozkoumat vlivy této války na Španělsko a na hodnoty jeho společnosti, tak jak jsou vyobrazeny v literatuře tohoto národa.
