The theories of women's criminality (critical overview)

Abstract:

Tématem této bakalářské práce jsou teorie o ženské kriminalitě a jejich místo v textech v rámci české kriminologie a zahraniční, feministicky orientované kriminologie. Práce vychází z textů zaměřených explicitně na ženskou kriminalitu a teorií vysvětlujících její příčiny. Konkrétně je to text Josefa Čepeláka a Zdeňka Karabce K teoriím kriminality žen jako nejobsáhlejší přehledová stať o ženské kriminalitě v českém prostředí, dále text Jany Válkové Kriminalita žen a novější studie ženské kriminality Šárky Blatníkové a Karla Netíka Ženy jako pachatelky závažné trestné činnosti. Ze zahraničních textů byla vybrána kniha jedné ze zakladatelek feministické kriminologie Frances Heidensohn Women & Crime, text Lee H. Bowker Women and Crime in America, který obsahuje i studii o teoriích ženské kriminality od feministické kritičky Carol Smart a jedna z novějších prací dosud působící feministické kriminoložky Joanne Belknap The Invisible Woman: Gender, Crime and Justice. V první části jsou v práci shrnuty rozdíly mezi přístupy z hlediska práce s kategorií genderu. Dál práce zkoumá přístup jednotlivých autorů k již existujícím, biologicky, psychologicky a sociologicky zaměřeným teoriím o ženské kriminalitě. Poslední část je zaměřená na feministickou kriminologii a její uchopení českými a zahraničními texty a přehled feministicky orientovaných teorií o kriminalitě žen.

Abstract:

The theme of this barchlor thesis are the theories of female criminality and their place in the czech criminology and the international, feminist oriented criminology. The work is based on the texts focused explicitly on the women's criminality and theories to explain its causes. Concretely, it is the text by Josef Čepelák and Zdeněk Karabec - K teoriím kriminality žen (The theories of female criminality) as the most comprehensive study of the female criminality in the Czech environment, as well as the text by Jana Válková - Kriminalita žen (The female criminality) and the recent study of the female criminality - Ženy jako pachatelky závažné trestné činnosti (Women as perpetrators of serious crime) by Šárka Blatníková and Karel Netík. From the foreign texts were selected the books Women and Crime by Frances Heidensohn - one of the founders of the feminist criminology, Women and Crime in America by Lee H. Bowker, which includes the study of female crime by a feminist critic Carol Smart and one of the most recent works by a feminist criminologist Joanne Belknap -The Invisible Woman: Gender, Crime and Justice. The first part of the work summarizes the differences between the approaches in terms of working with the gender categories. Further the work examines the approach of authors to the already existing, biologically, psychologically and sociologically oriented theories of female criminality. The last part focuses on feminist criminology, and its elaboration in Czech and the foreign texts and on overview of the feministic theories about female criminality.
