Lexicometric analysis of literary work of Faiza Guene

Abstract:

The thesis entitled Lexicometric analysis of Faiza Guène´s works is dealing with the lexico-stylistic analysis of the three novels of this young French author of Arabic origin. The work is based on acquiring text subcorpus using the lexicometric program Lexico 3. The theoretical part includes a description of corpus linguistics and of a new linguistic field, lexicometry. The following section describes the functions of the Lexico 3. In the introduction to the practical part, the author's style is characterized in terms of phonetic, morphological and syntactic; the emphasis is placed primarily on the lexical level and the methods contributing to the innovation of the language. Another part presents a comparative analysis of frequency of three novels. The Author's style is characterized by the use of French suburban argot of youth; a part of the analysis is therefore concerned with the criteria of the automatic search of verlanisation and loanwords. The final section of the analytical part is dedicated to analysis of the author's last novel, Les gens du Balto, especially to gender and generational differences in the vocabulary of each character.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce s názvem Lexikometrická analýza díla Faïzy Guènové se zabývá stylisticko-lexikálním rozborem tří románů této mladé francouzské autorky s arabskými kořeny. Práce je založena na vytěžování textových subkorpusů pomocí lexikometrického programu Lexico 3. Teoretická část zahrnuje charakteristiku korpusové lingvistiky a nového lingvistického oboru, lexikometrie. Dále jsou popsány funkce programu Lexico 3. V úvodu praktické části je charakterizován styl autorky z hlediska fonetického, morfo-syntaktického a důraz je kladen zejména na lexikální rovinu a na prostředky, které přispívají k inovaci jazyka. Další část představuje komparační frekvenční analýzu tří románů. Autorčin styl se vyznačuje užíváním slangu francouzské předměstské mládeže ; část analýzy se tedy zabývá kritérii automatického vyhledávání verlanizací a výpůjček z cizích jazyků. Závěrečná část analytické části je věnována poslednímu autorčinu románu, Les gens du Balto, především gendrovým a generačním odlišnostem ve slovní zásobě jednotlivých postav.
