School integration versus segregation in the education of pupils with hearing disabilities - does the best decision exist?

Abstract:

Tato práce se zaměřuje na problematiku integrovaného a segregovaného vzdělávání žáků se sluchovým postižením. Práce se dělí na teoretickou a praktickou část. V teoretické části jsou podány základní informace o významu sluchu, vlivu sluchového postižení na vzdělávání a možnostech výchovy a vzdělávání sluchově postižených, včetně uvedení výhod a nevýhod vzdělávání ve škole pro sluchově postižené a vzdělávání žáků v běžných školách formou integrace. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována specifikům ve výuce při vzdělávání ve škole pro sluchově postižené a při integrovaném vzdělávání. Na teoretickou část práce navazuje výzkum v praktické části, jehož cílem je srovnat podmínky vzdělávání žáků se sluchovým postižením ve škole pro sluchově postižené a žáků integrovaných v běžných školách. Výzkum se zaměřuje na zjištění faktorů, které mají vliv na proces rozhodování o integraci či vzdělávání ve škole pro sluchově postižené, zmapování míry poskytované podpory žákovi integrovanému žákovi a žákovi ve škole pro sluchově postižené, a srovnání výhod a nevýhod obou forem vzdělávání.

Abstract:

This work is focused on an issue of integrated and segregated education of pupils with hearing disabilities. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part there are given basic informations about the importance of hearing, influence of hearing disabilities on education, the possibilities of education of the hearing impaired, including advantages and disadvantages of education in a school for hearing disabilities and the education in mainstream schools through integration. Special attention is devoted to the specifics in teaching at school for hearing impaired and in the integrated education. The practical part, that takes place after theoretical part, is about my own research. I compare the conditions of education of hearing impaired pupils at school for hearing impairment and pupils integrated in mainstream schools. The research aims to determine the factors that influence the decision-making process on integration or education at school for hearing impairment, mapping the extent of the support to integrated pupil and to pupil in a school for hearing impairment, and compare the advantages and disadvantages of both forms of education.
