Expert System for Diagnosis of Human Balance System Disorders

Abstract:

Tato disertační práce se zabývá návrhem podpůrného expertního systému pro vyhodnocení výsledků vyšetření prováděných na statické posturografické plošině. Systém by měl posloužit jako podpora pro ambulantní ORL lékaře při určování diagnózy pacientů s problémy rovnováhy. Základem pro vytvoření expertního systému byla diferenciální diagnostika poruch rovnováhy tedy jednoznačné odlišení periferního a centrálního vestibulárního syndromu a vyloučení ne-vestibulárních závratí. Tento podpůrný diagnostický systém využívá fuzzy logiku s kombinací hodnoty zlatého řezu měřených dat. Tato práce se také zabývá využitím herní plošiny Wii Balance Board v ordinacích praktických lékařů. Tato plošina poskytuje cenově dostupné zařízení pro screeningová měření. Pro testování a případné další využívání plošiny v ORL ordinacích byla vyvinuta softwarová aplikace, která na základě online komunikace s plošinou provádí záznam měření, výpočet numerických hodnot kvantifikující dané měření a implementovaná logika expertního systému ve finále lékaři nabízí k posouzení možné diagnózy.

Abstract:

This doctoral thesis deals with proposal of a supporting expert system for evaluating examination results measured on static posturography platform. The system should serve as a support tool for outpatient ENT physicians in the diagnostics of patients with balance disorder. The base for the creation of the expert system was the differential diagnosis of balance disorders that is clear differentiation between peripheral and central vestibular syndrome and the exclusion of non-vestibular vertigo. This supporting diagnostic system is uses fuzzy logic with a combination of the golden section from the measured data. This thesis also deals with the application of the Wii Balance Board in ENT surgeries. This platform provides an affordable device for screening examinations. A new software application has been developed to test the platform and use it further in ENT surgeries. This application records measurements and calculates numerical values quantifying them based on the online communication with the platform. Finally, the expert system logic implemented into the application suggests possible diagnoses to the ENT physician. ?
