Abstract:

Práce pojednává o životě židovských přistěhovalců do USA na přelomu 19. a 20. století, jak je popsán v americké literatuře, konkrétně v knihách Abrahama Cahana The Rise of David Levinsky, Anzii Yezierské Hungry Hearts a Henryho Rotha Call It Sleep. Práce se zaměřuje na analýzu procesu amerikanizace židovských přistěhovalců, na to, jak asimilace probíhala, a představuje problémy, kterým museli židovští přistěhovalci čelit při zapojování do amerického způsobu života.

Abstract:

The work deals with the life of Jewish immigrants to the USA at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, as depicted in American literature, specifically in books: Abraham Cahan’s The Rise of David Levinsky, Anzia Yezierska’s Hungry Hearts and Henry Roth’s Call It Sleep. The work focuses on the analysis of the Jewish immigrants’ process of Americanization, of how the assimilation proceeded, and introduces the problems that Jewish immigrants had to face when participating in the American way of life.
