Social Construction of the Identity of Adult Children of Alcohol-Dependent Parents

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá otázkou, jakým způsobem mladí dospělí lidé sociálně konstruují důsledky plynoucí ze závislosti jejich rodičů na alkoholu na své identitě. Teoretická část vymezuje specifika soužití dětí s rodiči závislými na alkoholu, tříúrovňový koncept identity člověka, vyjednávaný ve vztazích s druhými, způsoby sociálního konstruování. V metodické části je popsána příprava a realizace kvalitativního výzkumného šetření. V interpretační části práce zodpovídám postupně tři dílčí výzkumné otázky utvořené podle zkoumaného způsobu sociální konstrukce, přičemž vznikající kategorie odpovídají jednotlivým úrovním identity pojmenovaným jako hluboký pocit totožnosti, rolová identita a příslušnost k sociální skupině. V závěru práce odpovídám na základní výzkumnou otázku a navrhuji další doporučení.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the question of how young adults socially construct the consequences of their parents' alcohol dependency on their identity. The theoretical part defines the specifics of the cohabitation of children with alcohol-dependent parents, a three-dimensional concept of human identity negotiated in relations with others, and the ways of social construction. The methodological part describes the preparation and implementation of the qualitative research survey. The interpretative part of the thesis gradually answers three partial research questions formed accordingly to the studied social construction method, while the emerging categories correspond to levels of identity named as a deep sense of identity, role identity and belonging to the social group. At the end of the thesis I answer the main research question and propose further recommendations.
