Design of classifier for detection of hand movement in EEG record based on event-related motor potentials

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou detekce potenciálů souvisejících s pohybem a představou pohybu ruky ze záznamu EEG. Cílem bylo navrhnout klasifikátor detekující výskyt pohybu v EEG signálu, implementovat ho a na naměřených datech ověřit jeho funkčnost. Průběh elektrické aktivity mozku byl naměřen na 11 subjektech v laboratoři Katedry informatiky a výpočetní techniky a získaný signál byl zpracován pomocí softwaru MNE-Python. K detekci pohybu byl použit lineární klasifikátor metody Support Vector Machines. Klasifikátor i metriky vyhodnocující úspěšnost klasifikace byly implementovány v jazyce Python s využitím knihovny Scikit-learn.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis focuses on detection of movement-related potentials in EEG signals. The aim was to design a classifier that is able to detect hand movement or movement imagery in the EEG data; implement the classifier; and verigy its accuracy. A total of 11 subjects participated in this study. In The Department of Computer Science and Engineering's laboraty, these subjects were studied to obtain their electrical activity. The obtained signal was preprocessed by the MNE-Python software. The linear SVM classifier was chosen to detect movements in the signal. The classifier as well as evaluation metrics were programmed in the Python programming language using Scikit-learn library.
