Analysis of the impact of raising minimum and guaranteed wages on the labour market in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Zvyšování minimální a zaručené mzdy je aktuálním a často diskutovaným tématem v České republice, které má významný vliv na trh práce a ekonomiku jako celek. Cílem práce je komplexně zhodnotit dopady těchto změn na různé aspekty trhu práce, dále identifikovat pozitivní i negativní důsledky zvyšování minimální a zaručené mzdy a navrhnout možná řešení pro optimalizaci nastavení těchto institutů v kontextu české ekonomiky. K tomu jsou využita statistická data z různých zdrojů, jako je Český statistický úřad, Ministerstvo práce a sociálních věcí či Eurostat. Pomocí ekonometrických modelů a dalších analytických nástrojů jsou zkoumány vztahy mezi vývojem minimální a zaručené mzdy a klíčovými ukazateli trhu práce, jako je míra zaměstnanosti, nezaměstnanosti, struktura pracovních míst podle odvětví a kvalifikace, mzdová úroveň a distribuce mezd. Závěrem je, že zvyšování minimální mzdy je spojeno s růstem celkové zaměstnanosti a poklesem nezaměstnanosti v ČR, minimální mzda má silný pozitivní vliv na mzdovou úroveň, zejména v dolní části rozdělení, dále analýza odhaluje odlišné dopady na různé skupiny pracovníků.

Abstract:

Raising the minimum and guaranteed wage is a topical and frequently discussed topic in the Czech Republic, which has a significant impact on the labour market and the economy as a whole. The aim of this paper is to comprehensively assess the impact of these changes on various aspects of the labour market, to identify the positive and negative consequences of increasing the minimum and guaranteed wages and to propose possible solutions for optimising the setting of these institutes in the context of the Czech economy. For this purpose, statistical data from various sources such as the Czech Statistical Office, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and Eurostat are used. Using econometric models and other analytical tools, the relationships between the development of minimum and guaranteed wages and key labour market indicators such as employment rates, non-employment, the structure of jobs by sector and qualification, wage levels and wage distribution are examined. It is In conclusion, increases in the minimum wage are associated with increases in total employment and decreases in unemployment in the Czech Republic; the minimum wage has a strong positive effect on wage levels, especially at the lower end of the distribution; and the analysis reveals differential impacts on different groups of workers.
