Abstract:

Hlavným cieľom tejto práce je predstaviť a analyzovať výber poviedok J.D. Salingera, v ktorých sa objavuje fiktívna rodina Glassovcov. V kontexte teórie tvorby možných svetov táto práca skúma svet, ktorý J.D. Salinger vytvoril. Práca obsahuje kapitolu o krátkej histórii a teórii možných svetov a štyri analytické kapitoly skúmajúce poviedky zo zbierok Deväť poviedok, Franny a Zooey, Do výšok zdvíhajte krov, tesári a Seymour: Úvod, a samostatný príbeh Hapworth 16, 1924. Táto práca sa zaoberá myšlienkou, že všetky poviedky boli v danom svete napísané Buddym Glassom, ktorý prostredníctvom písania o jeho živote hľadá odpovede ohľadom tragickej smrti svojho brata.

Abstract:

The main aim of this thesis is to discuss and analyze the selection of J.D. Salinger’s short stories featuring a fictional family of the Glasses. In the context of the theory of the possible worlds, this thesis further analyzes the world J.D. Salinger created. The thesis features a chapter on the short history and theory of possible worlds and four chapters dedicated to the analysis of the stories themselves, working with the collections Nine Stories, Franny and Zooey, Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters and Seymour: an Introduction, and the short story Hapworth 16, 1924. This thesis works with the idea that all of these stories were in their possible world written by Buddy Glass mainly to find some answers about the tragic death of his brother in his life before the event.
