Self-Defence of Paramedics in Contact with a Violent Patient

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce má za cíl představit a zdůraznit význam a důvody realizace Komplexního kurzu sebeobrany pro zdravotnické pracovníky, který je základem fyzické sebeobrany zdravotnického pracovníka. V extrémních případech je jediná možnost obrany proti útoku násilného pacienta při poskytování zdravotní péče právě fyzická sebeobrana. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí – teoretické a praktické. V teoretické části jsou popsány a vysvětleny termíny jako agrese, agresivita a konflikt, což je klíčové pro pochopení příčin vzniku a eskalace násilí u pacientů v přednemocniční péči. Dále práce zmiňuje právní rámec problematiky sebeobrany zdravotnických pracovníků při výkonu povolání v případě nutné sebeobrany jako jediného možného východiska z konfliktní situace. Praktická část obsahuje představení a harmonogram kurzu a následně vysvětluje prvky samotné fyzické sebeobrany. Snahou práce je poskytnout ucelený pohled na problematiku fyzického násilní v přednemocniční péči a na nezbytnou schopnost sebeobrany zdravotnických pracovníků jako důležité součásti jejich fyzické připravenosti k poskytování zdravotních služeb. Současně si práce klade za cíl povzbudit zdravotníky k absolvování tohoto kurzu z důvodu vysokého počtu výskytu konfliktů a násilí směřujícího na zdravotníky v přednemocniční péči.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis aims to introduce and emphasize the importance and reasons for the implementation of a comprehensive course of self-defense for health professionals, which is the basis of physical self-defense of health care workers. In extreme cases, the only way to defend self from an attack by a violent patient during the provision of health care is through physical self-defense. The work is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes and explains terms such as aggression, aggression and conflict, which is key to understanding the causes of the formation and escalation of violence in patients in pre-hospital care. Furthermore, the work mentions the legal framework of the issue of self-defense of health professionals in the output of their profession and explanes the necessity of self defense as the only possible way out of the conflict situation. The practical part contains the introduction and schedule of the course and then explains the elements of physical self-defense itself. The aim of the work is to provide a comprehensive view of the issue of physical violence in pre-hospital care and the necessary ability of self-defense of health workers as an important part of their physical readiness to provide health services. At the same time, the work aims to encourage health professionals to complete this course due to the high number of conflicts and violence directed at health professionals in pre-hospital.
