History and Present of Consumer Culture – Social and Psychological Aspects of Modern Consumption

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na současné sociální aspekty spotřební kultury a její vývoj se zaměřením na konkrétní oblasti životního stylu. Těmi jsou jídlo a stravování, sport a móda. Cílem je analyzovat a zhodnotit životní styl a uplatnění digitálních médií ve vybraných oblastech životního stylu u vybrané skupiny spotřebitelů. Soustředí se na konzumenta a jeho jednání. Popisuje moderní technologie a jejich používání, propagační materiály a různá reklamní sdělení. V úvodu teoretické části práce nabízí sociologický diskurz spotřební kultury, vysvětluje její historický vývoj a poté charakterizuje její současnou podobu. Následuje definice spotřebitele, spotřebitelského chování a digitálních médií. Dále se věnuje životnímu stylu v souvislosti s jídlem, sportem a módou. V praktické části dochází k přípravě a realizaci výzkumné sondy, provedení polostrukturovaných rozhovorů a komparaci vlastních dat s daty Českého statistického úřadu. Nakonec se vyhodnocuje získané poznání a dochází se k výsledkům.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focuses on the current social aspects of consumer culture and its development with a focus on specific areas of lifestyle. These are food and catering, sports and fashion. The aim is to analyse and evaluate the lifestyle and application of digital media in selected areas of lifestyle in a selected group of consumers. It focuses on the consumer and his actions. Describes modern technologies and their use, promotional materials and various advertising messages. In the introduction to the theoretical part of the work, it offers a sociological discourse of consumer culture, explains its historical development and then characterizes its current form. It follows with the definition of consumer, consumer behaviour and digital media. Thesis also focuses on lifestyle in connection with food, sports and fashion. In the practical part, this work deals with a preparation and implementation of a research probe, semi-structured interviews and comparison of own data with data from the Czech Statistical Office. Finally, the acquired knowledge is evaluated and results are obtained.
