The spiritual texts of Willigis Jäger from the didactic point of view

Abstract:

The diploma thesis "Willigis Jägers spirituelle Texte aus sprachdidaktischer Sicht" deals with stylistic analysis and didactical implementation of three texts of a Benedictine monk and Zen master Willigis Jäger for the target level B2. The chapter about didactics provides an overview of influential theories of language acquisition, defines language competences, receptive and productive skills, and social forms of teaching. The theoretical framework for stylistic analysis is an overview of basic theoretical concepts (structuralism, functional stylistics, pragmatic stylistics, textual linguistics). Textual linguistics is based on essential methodological aspects for analysis (text types, macro- and microstylistic features). Willigis Jäger (born 1925) is presented in the context of religion and spirituality, attention is paid to both areas of his interest, contemplative prayer and Zen meditation. Three texts were selected for analysis and didactical implementation. The first text is a biography and reflects the history of the 20th century (commitment in the military during World War II or 1960s) in many ways. The second text deals with egoism and its consequences for humanity. The third text presents the contemplative prayer in the context of human needs and psychotherapy. The didactical implementation tries to accompany the learners in reading and listening comprehension systematically, but the main aim is to encourage them to express themselves critically.

Diplomová práce „Willigis Jägers spirituelle Texte aus sprachdidaktischer Sicht“ se zabývá stylistickou analýzou a didaktizací tří textů benediktýnského mnicha a zenového mistra Willigise Jägera pro cílovou úroveň B2. Kapitola o didaktice přináší přehled vlivných teorií osvojování si jazyka, definuje jazykové kompetence, receptivní a produktivní dovednosti a sociální formy vyučování. Teoretický rámec ke stylistické analýze tvoří přehled základních teoretických koncepcí (strukturalismus, funkční stylistika, pragmatická stylistika, textová lingvistika). Z textové lingvistiky vycházejí i základní metodologické aspekty pro analýzu (stanovení typu textu, makro- a mikrostylistických rysů). Willigis Jäger (nar. 1925) je představen v kontextu náboženství a spirituality, pozornost je věnována oběma oblastem jeho zájmu, tedy kontemplativní modlitbě a zenové meditaci. K analýze a didaktizaci byly vybrány tři texty. První text je životopisem a v mnohém odráží dějiny 20. století (nasazení v armádě za druhé světové války, 60. léta). Druhý text tematizuje egoismus a jeho následky pro lidstvo. Třetím text představuje kontemplaci v kontextu lidských potřeb a psychoterapie. Didaktizace se snaží žáky systematicky doprovázet v porozumění čtenému a slyšenému, ale hlavně je vybízet k samostatnému kritickému vyjádření.
